Pole Line Track

page 2

Thje brassy green of the miniature tree fern (Blechnum fraseri) stands out along the edge.

Here is an Olearia arborescens, possibly the most common of the tree daisies around Auckland.

Here's a kanono, Coprosma grandifolia, a female flower.

The canopy here is for the most part kanuka.

Alice wonders what's taking me so long.

It's been a strange May. My Cherokee rose, the Cecile Brunner, the Rugosa alba, have all been flowering several months early, and here is a mingimingi with shoots I would normally expect to see in spring.

A mangemange hoists itself up a lovely old kanuka.

The track is predominantly grass now.

Five finger? Pate? I'm just not sure sometimes.

That looks like the road up ahead

This sign really says it all. There would be no need for it on most tramping tracks.

Fatman time including photography is about 25 minutes

Back to the van at last and a quick wander along the McElwain Loop to complete the circuit.
